Fleur-de-lis Abdominoplasty

(Tummy tuck)

This can be thought of as a standard transverse abdominoplasty with an extra vertical scar. (And in case you were wondering, the “fleur-de-lis” is actually the old coat of arms of the French Royal family with three leaves – which is what the abdominoplasty looks like when it’s drawn out!). It is a significantly bigger procedure than an abdominoplasty.

In some patients (particularly those who have had massive weight loss) there is so much excess tissue, particularly towards the sides, that a standard abdominoplasty will not address it. Unfortunately it does leave the extra, visible vertical scar too.

Similar to abdominoplasty. It also does not address excess loose skin and fat on the back.

Following significant weight loss, this lady in her early 50s had a large amount of loose skin and residual fat around her abdomen. A simple abdominoplasty was insufficient to tighten the abdomen adequately, so in the end she required a “Fleur-de-Lis” abdominoplasty: in addition to the transverse scar (across the bottom of the abdomen from hip to hip), there is a vertical (up-down) scar.
